Technical Schools Rise in Popularity

Contemporary society is finally accepting that not everyone should go to a four-year college. In fact, economists believe that the really good jobs in the future will be blue-collar jobs. Today’s teenagers are more likely to be carpenters, electricians, and plumbers, and they will be better at saving money than their parents. The shaky economy is definitely changing the way future generations will live. This means technical schools are gaining in popularity.

The White Collar Bubble

Whether it’s industry or an office job, technology has definitely affected the workforce. In the 1990′s the dot-com bubble made a lot of people really fast money as they developed money-making websites and software. Then it all came crashing down and those new millionaires disappeared.

Even when the hipster office scene was crumbling, blue-collar workers were still repairing bathrooms, putting out fires, building roads, and installing light fixtures. They were doing the things Western Society couldn’t do without. There’s stability in owning a hammer and knowing how to use it.

Technical Schools Go Online

Although blue-collar jobs don’t always need a four-year degree, they do often need an education. Police officers have to complete law enforcement courses. Electricians and plumbers must have a license, emergency workers need EMT or paramedic licenses. Many people who go into the working man’s professions get their degrees or licenses via an online education. They attend the technical school of their choice from the comfort of their own home while they apprentice in their chosen profession.

Ever met a poor plumber or electrician? If your child is looking for a career path, there’s nothing wrong with steering him towards the blue-collar and trade professions.
